Religion: A reoccurring theme in line 4 is the aspect of religion. Not only the importance of religion but how the people of France also took the Catholic church out of power. On this line, there are very popular and important Catholic churches that have an important mark in France’s history. Such churches being the Notre Dame and Sacré-Coeur. Before the French Revolution, the Catholic church and the monarchy were in a sense working as a unity. The church was a major force that was taken out of power during the French Revolution.  An important spot, Saint-Germain-Des-Pres, is the embodiment of the Enlightenment area ideas that fueled the French revolution. This area has old covenants that were taken over during the revolution and made into public spaces such as schools. Line 4 embodies the history of religion in Paris but also the more modern themes of separation of church and state

Race and Ethnicity: Traveling up and down the line, it is very important to note the change in ethnicity and race. Line 4 crosses through very popular and touristy stops but also crosses over into neighborhoods. Depending on which stop you enter, there will be a shift in the type of restaurants and bars in the area. For example, Port De Clignancourt and Chateau Rouge have a. very strong middle-eastern and African presence. Owners and workers in these areas tend to be from these ethnic groups also. These areas also seem more suburban compared to the other stops.  Going towards the Latin quarter and even Port d’Orleans, it is very important to note that the demographic is very diverse but within a. younger demographic. For example, there is a stronger presence from areas such as Asia, The United States, and South America.

Age: Depending on where you end up on line 4, you can see. A distinct shift in an age when traveling up and down the stop. Once you hit Chatelet and continue moving more south of the line, there is an increase in the amount of younger people who will get on and off these stops. In the Latin quarter, which is in Saint-Michel and near Châtelet, several universities attract students to the area.  Also, the Luxembourg Garden is a popular spot for students to picnic in the area. Area such as this and also Port d’Orleans attracts many young and international people. This is contrasted with the more northern spots that contain more of an older or family demographic. The residents here do not seem to be as loud and lively compared to the other stops.
